Theresa Redmond

Theresa is an award-winning teacher, widely-published scholar, and creative media maker. She brings a unique blend of credentials and the inquisitive spirit of media literacy to all she does. Her primary role is Professor of Media Studies at Appalachian State University where she is an expert in digital and media literacy, curriculum and instructional design, educational technology, and the arts. Her teaching assignments include face-to-face, hybrid/blended, and fully online courses across undergraduate and graduate programs. Theresa’s research interests are varied, comprising a complex hybrid agenda that focuses on issues of preparation, fluency, and empowerment in the digital age with an emphasis on the effects of creative inquiry and expression through arts-based pedagogy and remix on media literacy learning. Her research has appeared in the Media Education Research Journal, Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, Journal of Curriculum and Pedagogy, Journal of Media Literacy Education, and more!
