Dr. Magdalena Smrdelj (DVM DACVPM) served as the Chief Veterinary Officer of the Ontario SPCA for over 10 years. Dr. Smrdelj is a keen advocate for animals with a long career in animal welfare and shelter medicine. She became involved with the Ontario SPCA in Canada’s first high-volume spay/neuter service in Stouffville, Ontario. A Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics, Dr. Smrdelj continues to support strong relationships and collaborative programs with partners in veterinary medicine, animal welfare, and other related industries. Dr. Smrdelj’s professional interests and areas of focus include One Welfare, veterinary preventive medicine, emerging and zoonotic diseases and the human-animal bond."
