Alice Mello
Alice Moura is a Ph.D student in Applied Social Sciences at l'Université du
Québec en Outaouais (UQO). She holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology
(Universidade Federal de Pernambuco) and a bachelor’s degree in Social
Sciences (Universidade Federal de Pernambuco). Her master’s ethnography
focused on the forced eviction of a neighborhood in Recife caused by the
works for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
In recent years, she has worked as a consultant advisor in mediating urban
land conflicts between marginalized populations and the government in
Brazil. Her research interests are access to land, housing policies, the
production of urban space, forced evictions, and the relationship between
the state and marginalized populations in Brazil.
